Fashion designing is one of the most sought after and upcoming careers in India. More and more youngsters and middle aged individuals are following the latest trends and trying to keep themselves updated on recent fashion developments. Even the older generation has become very fashion conscious and getting dressed in the latest style is not limited to the younger generation only. Fashion courses are perhaps most in demand with various fashion institutes in India promising to offer the best programme in fashion.
Designing of clothes and accessories is an art and just as a career in any other field requires proper training so is the case with fashion designing. A fashion institute offers structured programme in fashion technology that makes an individual skilled in creating exclusive, unique and fashionable clothes with various types of fabrics. Due to the recent spur in designing careers, numerous institutes are coming up with high level and attractive courses. Different institutes have different fee structures, course curriculum, reputation etc. Moreover to a common man fashion designing might seem just like wearing different sorts of attractive clothes. But it is not so. There are various branches in the field of apparel designing also just as in the field of engineering or medical sciences. An appropriate institute offering programme in fashion offers the choice of studying most of the branches.
Therefore before choosing a fashion design institute in India a few very vital points have to be kept in mind.
  • Firstly find out about the fee structure and mode of payment options. Courses in fashion can involve a lot of money, so be very sure about your budget. Some institutes like WLCI etc also have tie ups with nationalized and private banks, who provide educational loans, so be sure to find out about these different options.
  • Find out about the entrance exams for taking admissions to these institutes and whether the fashion institute in India has any scholarship facility.
  • Do your homework about the institute that you are going to join and its reputation in the fashion industry. Try to go for an institute that includes practical training with reputed fashion houses as part of its fashion courses.
  • A programme in fashion technology should include specialization courses in fashion illustration, fashion marketing and merchandising, quality controller, product developer, visual merchandising etc.
  • Have a look through the campus before joining the institute. Visit their labs and classrooms to see the infrastructure being offered so that you do not feel cheated afterward.
  • Go through their course curriculum properly to see whether it matches your requirements or not and get full details about the type of certification or diploma or even degree that they are offering.
A programme in fashion involves a lot of money and hard work, so be very sure about the institute that you are joining. The fashion industry might look very glamorous from outside, but once you enter it, you really have to slog it out just like any other industry. But again once you pass out from a reputed institute and if you worked really hard, there is no looking back. You have ample of choices to choose from apart from just being a fashion designer. You can choose to be a fashion merchandiser, product developer, retail store manager, fashion co-ordinate, boutique owner, visual merchandiser, quality controller etc.

Leather Tote Bags - Fashion And Utility In One

Leather is a fantastic material for bags. It has the best combination of durability and style out of all the materials handbags are made from. In correlation with tote bags, you could say leather defeats their originally intended design. To be cheap. However, this does not mean it did not go through and became world popular. On the contrary, totes made out of leather are what is chic nowadays and more and more people carry their belongings in leather tote bags.
The reason for leather being so popular, even with being more expensive than other materials, derives itself from the fact that leather is long lasting, fashionable and that it ages really well. This all can be applied to totes, which usually break apart pretty fast, due to constant usage and the weight of things being placed in it. That is why leather ones are highly sought after, you buy one bag and you are set. With care, these bags can last you a lifetime or even several lifetimes, in extreme occasions. Also, aging is really important when fashion is concerned. If your bag has aged well, which will most likely happen if you have leather one and you took good care of it, it will become something more than "just a bag". It can become a symbol, it can have memories that you carry in it, along with your more material belongings and it will look damn great!
There are literally thousands of different styles for these bags, and they come in almost all colors. This is really important as many people love to match their bags with their outfit. I know that my sister has a different one for each work outfit. I mean, she is working as a manager, so she has to be on the top of her game at all times. What i wanted to say there is that leather totes are a staple of fashion nowadays when you have to carry a lot of heavy stuff day in and out but you want to retain your style.
While in the past tote bags were pretty simple, two handles, no zippers and only one compartment, today's are completely different. Due to modern needs, totes had to evolve as well. So today we have both zippers and compartments in these bags, all designed to provide you with the best functionality possible, which was the original intent of these bags in the first place. Only downside of this is that you now need to spend more time in finding a perfect bag for yourself, no two bags are the same. It is usually best to decide first what you need to carry with you and then proceed to search for a bag that will do the job with the least amount of effort.
Last thing you should know about these bags is that while they all may be out of leather, you need to take some care when purchasing one. If you want the best, always go for full-grain leather totes, they will last the longest and they will age the best. Downside is, of course, that they are the most expensive variant on the market. However, even if you do want the best and are ready to pay for it, take some time in learning about how to spot a genuine full grain leather from other ones. When you are paying extra for quality, you want to be sure that you are getting it.

Tips to Have Long Lasting Fashion Jewelry

With increasing cost of everything, women are finding ways to save some money to acquire their favorite ornaments. Every woman desires to own exquisite pieces of jewels which are unique and exclusive. This also includes jewels which are not outdated and can provide long lasting benefits. For this, it is required to take special care for all sorts of ornaments bought by them. Special care has to be taken of Fashion Jewelry so that one can use them for a much longer time span.
A girl's wardrobe is fueled with tons of varieties of ornaments. To make them long lasting, it is essential to divide all such types into various categories on the basis of materials from which they have been made. Gold plated, silver, platinum coated, imitation pearls, vermeil, gems and water soluble gems must be differentiated among themselves. In addition to this, it will make cleaning of these chunks more easy. Women are also required to gather all sorts of information pertaining to caring and cleaning of such Fashion Jewelry.
Online resources can be used to gather information regarding cleaning of all types of Fashion Jewelry. Based on the collected information, it is then required to collect all sorts of products and equipments needed to clean them. This will help in performing this task in a much simpler manner. Every single type of ornaments must be cleaned keeping in mind all necessary precautions. This is imperative or else individuals can cause harm to their special charms. After completing this cleanliness procedure, it is required to put each trinket in one box with utmost care.
All the original pieces of Fashion Jewelry are crafted with a Hallmark symbol. Absence of such a symbol signifies that an item is not original. Such symbol is placed at the back of the ornament. There are special materials needed to clean these Hallmark chunks and so they involve much care and concern. Ornaments made up of pearls and other precious gems can be inspected at the time of cleaning. They can be tested with oil and lubricants in order to know the degree of their authenticity. In case a gem is not pure then it will fade away in color and will lose its original shine in just first cleaning.
People who are not fully aware about this cleaning regimen must take their charms to a renowned jeweler. Such jewelers are quite knowledgeable about such gems and will make clean them effectively without causing any harm to their original charisma. They use some special lubricants to make them free from all kinds of minute spots and defects. They even repair minor faults that occur in Fashion Jewelry after repeated use. So, women who have bought bulk of such ornaments and want them to look beautiful even after repeated use then they must ensure their proper care with due diligence.

Fashion Accessories for 2014 That Will Make Your Outfits Pop!

Every girl out there is trying to look her best and fashion jewelry is a big hit right now. Of course, us guys are looking more at the girl, but it never hurt to have a look that will help get you noticed from the get-go. That's why I recommend that when you're looking for the best fashion accessories for 2014 that you look for these types of accessories and jewelry.
Scarves - Girls forget about scarves when they're thinking about fashion, but the fact of the matter is that a good scarf that accentuates your outfit and your eyes can be a more important accessory than any piece of jewelry. Pair that with a row of bangle bracelets and you'll look hip, cool, and classy. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Jewelry that suits you. Okay. So here's the big thing. Too many girls are trying to wear what they see in magazines, whether or not it's going to look good on them personally. So the trick is that while you want to have the right accessories that go with the current fashion you also don't want to pick fashion jewelry that doesn't suit your body, your face, or your personality. When you do this, you only serve to make yourself look awkward and uncomfortable.
Jewelry that matches or gives something extra to your outfit. The problem with a lot of jewelry and fashion accessories for 2014 that I'm seeing is that they tend to become the centerpiece. That necklace that's so big that it takes away from your face? Pass it by! Get something that accentuates your features and makes you look as beautiful as you were meant to be.
Of all things, the most important that I can pass along to you is this: no matter what you're choosing for your look, and no matter what accessories you choose to go along with that, you should always be yourself. There's no sense in choosing what's in style if "in style" means not being you. The most beautiful accessories, and the right ones, are those that help you bring out the best in you and that make you feel good about yourself and how you look. So skip the expensive ones you see in all the magazines, and skip the just as expensive knock-offs, and choose to take care of yourself for a change. Your personality is the best accessory you have for 2014.

Popular Evening Dress Design Trends for 2014

An appropriate expression that summarizes the evening fashion trends of 2014 is "elegant luxury." This time designers have been forgetting the color palettes, textures, shapes, pathos in the cuts and all other innovations that remind us of the past seasons. This time they're bringing back the traditional old-fashioned styles.
The purpose of evening dresses is to tempt and seduce by highlighting the true seductive curves and lines of female body. So the evening dresses of 2014 have been designed by keeping an emphasis on chest, hips and waist. Deep cuts and open shoulders were chosen as the neck designs for designing the most seductive chest area. Given below are some popular trends that you can expect to see in the designs of evening dresses in 2014:
Vivid and spectacular color choices
Noble and elegant color schemes are the future of fashion in 2014, so they've been used in evening dresses too. Flashy or too much elaborative colors (i.e. acidic or neon) have been excluded and natural, lighter colors like blue, green, purple and red have been used as the primary choices. White and black dresses are also the traditional classics which are further strengthening their position in 2014.
Enlightening folds on the dresses
Folds, pleats and drapes are some common designing tactics used in the evening dresses of 2014. Every designer seems to be finding his/her own unique solution with these tactics by doing numerous experiments.
Focus on the upper chest and shoulders
Deep cuts in the form factor of V shape are no longer the only way of driving focus to the chest area. Now designers are doing even franker experiments like fitting the neckline and welcoming open shoulders. However, since that traditional V shape is still the love of many women, some designers decided to do a bit of modification to the existing design. So V shaped designs with some modified form-factor can also be seen in the evening dresses of 2014.
Some even trickier experiments have also been done here - For example, in a design known as "Fake Nude", at first glance anyone seeing will feel as if the upper chest part is almost entirely open. But when seen closely, you'll find a transparent or semi-transparent fabric at that place. By this technique designers tried to complete the two main accents: opening the shoulders and the chest area.
Usage of fringes and fills in the designs
Usage of fringes and frills gives even more romantic look to the dress. By seeing the collection of 2014 we can say that couturiers were used in an abundance of frills. Decorative stripes of couturiers have been used in the designs of next year. Some brands are entirely replacing frills in 2014. This is a splendid job, but it decreases the romantic effect of dresses.

Creating Fashion Jewelry Pieces That Make You Look Hot

No matter what time of year it is, you like it hot hot hot-and why shouldn't you? You're one hot mama! And that means that you're looking for the biggest fashion trends and the greatest ideas out there. But you're also looking for deals so that your fashion accessories for 2014 don't break the bank for you through 2020. Well, if that's what you're after, then you're in luck. Because one of the hottest trends right now is to make your own fashion jewelry. Say what?! No, really, more and more women are making their own jewelry so that they can start a trend, have a unique piece, and look like a million bucks without spending a million bucks! In fact, more and more women are doing all of this and more and spending $20 or less to complete a jewelry set. That's right! So how in the world can you do the same and reap the benefits that all these other women seem to be getting so easily? I'm here to tell you. So let's get started.
Make the Most of Your Local Craft Stores for Fashion Jewelry Necessities
No matter what type of jewelry you're trying to make, you can find pretty much everything you need at the local craft store. Never been in a craft store? Wait. If you've never been in a craft store, then we need to stop this, check your temperature and make sure you're feeling okay. You'll also need a significant amount of preparation because once you go craft, you can't go back! You'll enter the craft store one woman and come out completely different. You will never be the same, and neither will your jewelry boxes, your home, or your life. Now that that's out of the way, let's get on to how your local craft store can help.
The Tools You Need to Make Fashion Accessories for 2014
Your local craft store, whether you realize it or not, is fully stocked and ready to help you make all the fashion jewelry and fashion accessories that you need for 2014 and every other year of your life. Not only can you buy everything you need there to make a fashion purse, but you can also buy every tool you need to get into jewelry making. This includes needle nose pliers, clasps, hooks, jewelry pins, and more. If you can't find it on the shelf, you can ask someone who works in the store and they will either lead you to it or order it for you, in most cases. In some cases, they may send you down the street to their competitor, who also carries the product, if they are out of stock. That's right, they send each other business so that you can get to beading!
The Look and Style You Want for Your Fashion Jewelry
When you walk into the local craft store, you're going to be overwhelmed. These are not tiny stores. They're humongous. Think big box grocery store, only filled with flowers and pretty scents and fun stuff to make and do. You could spend years completing all the projects that they have in store for you. So don't get distracted! Head straight for what is likely to be four or five aisles (yes, I said aisles) of beads, charms, and other doodads for your fashion jewelry making experience. You'll choose from hundreds of colors, sizes, styles, and types. You'll be able to get real pearls, fake pearls, fake stones, costume jewelry pieces, and statement pieces. It will be the one place where you just can't seem to make a decision, even four or five hours later.
Come With a Plan
If you're new to making jewelry, it's best to come with a picture that you printed off the internet, or something you drew, so that you can direct yourself and your experience to the right beads and stones. You should make sure to read some information about how to make jewelry. If you're really skittish, your first several pieces can come from kits. That's right, buy a kit and make some pieces that will get your skills going without breaking the bank.

History of Fashion Week to the Great Extent

The first fashion week was held in New York in 1943, with the main purpose to distract from the French fashion during World War II. Workers in the fashion industry during this time were unable to travel so many designers in the United States decided to host their own show in the U.S. Fashion week was then born, Eleanor Lambert organized the first fashion week and it was call "Press Week". Press Week can thank Vogue magazine for making the week a great success. During this week Vogue began to feature more American more than the usual French work that they usually showed. As Vogue did this they cause a great fashion wave all over the United State, people realized that they could find great fashions in the United States sooner than if they had to wait for the fashions to come to the United States.
Until 1994 different designer shows were held at different locations, but a set accident at a Michael Kors show made the fashion week counsel change the location of fashion week and it was moved to Bryan Park. Fashion week remained at Bryant Park until 2010 when it was then relocated to Lincoln Center.
Eleanor Lambert was not the first to hold a fashion show in America, in 1903 in New York City a shop call Ehrich Brothers was thought to have put on the country's very first fashion show to get middle class women to shop at their store. By 1910 many department stores were following this trend to draw in more customers. Stores got the ideas for fashion shows based on fashion parades in Paris. These shows were a great way to promote stores and to get designers names out into the world for them to become who they are today.
By the 1920s fashion parades and shows were happening all over the country by retailers, large department stores and small mom and pop shops were jumping at the chance to hold a show. Many shows were held in the stores restaurant during brunch or tea time, when women were most likely to be at the stores having a snack after a long morning of shopping. The theme of the shows were singular and were very dramatic and theatrical than those of the shows done today. Each show was presented with a narrative commentary that told the audience what they were looking at, what material is was made out of and they tried to sell the looks the best they could to the women of the middle and upper classes. As the fashion parades became more popular they started to bring in more and more crowds of people, starting in the 1950s any place that was indoors needs to obtain a permit to have live models for the show because of all the people that would come to the shows.

All About Fashion and Fashion Week

Fashion is the general style or custom of clothing worn at any given time. The word "fashion" comes from the years when people described a woman who was well dressed as a "fashion plate".
Whether or not it had a name, fashion has always been important to women. Now it seems to be almost as important to men. Beau Brummell is probably the most well known and talked about male fashion plate in history. His colorful clothing and accessories were copied by men all over Europe.
Couturiers with famous names such as Worth, Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel had famous fashion houses in Paris. These were the haute couture designers that every other fashion designer since has aspired to become. In spite of Prêt a Porter (French for ready made or off the rack) the world still looks to Paris first when fashion is concerned. Today, although fashion designers and models come from all over the world, fashion week in Paris is still the most exciting event of the year.
Fashion changes nearly instantly. Each season welcomes in a different style, color, hem length, and designer. Today the person who follows fashion like a slave is called a fashionista. Some fashionistas look ridiculous in the new styles but they wear them anyway.
The media is very important to fashion and can rightly take credit for the spread of each new style and trend over the world map. Fashion blogs are the newest manner of communicating the newest fashion. Prior to blogs there were fashion web sites, columns in newspapers and magazines, fashion magazines. One of the most famous fashion magazines is Vogue. It was founded in 1892 and it is the longest lasting fashion magazine in the world with versions being published in England, France, Italy, Germany and other countries. Vogue's influence grew after W.W. II. Ready to wear designers and perfume companies were their largest advertisers. In the 50', 60's 70's television was featured on television shows such as Today and other morning shows.
A few years ago, Project Runway became one of the most watched reality shows on television. Each season a new designer is launched with his/her own fashion line. The show is sponsored by a well known department store, hair care company, and make-up company. The judges are a model, a fashion magazine editor, a famous designer and a weekly guest. This program watches a group of people who want to become fashion designers go through each stage of the competition. At the end, the three remaining designers compete with a line they put together in a month or two. This is presented at Mercedes Benz fashion week in Bryant Park, N.Y. The winner gets a large check to work at producing his/her own line which will be carried at the major department store.
Fashion Week is a big industry event. There is one held in each of the large fashion capitals. This week the biggest fashion houses and designers display their newest designs and styles. There is a fashion week in Paris, Milan, London, and New York. These weeks occur twice a year for autumn/winter fashions and spring/summer fashions. They are held many months in advance so that the buyers and the magazine editors can see the designs prior to ordering them for their venue. The first week of women's wear is New York followed by London, Milan and Paris. The men's wear lines are shown in between in Milan.
Fashion weeks are also held in other places for specific types of clothing such as swim wear and cruise wear in Miami. In fact, there are fashion weeks in many U.S. cities for several different types of clothing. You can probably find an alphabetical listing online if you want to go to one.

New York Fashion Week - Tempest In The Big Apple

For the many people involved in fashion, you may be wondering exactly what is New York fashion week? As it is, New York fashion week is a week long occasion that began on June 7th in the year 1993 and is supported currently by Olympus. Fashion week is frequently known as Olympus fashion week due to the fact that its current sponsor is Olympus; however in recent years past its was also known as Mercedes Benz fashion week because they were the sponsors at that time.
The venue for this occasion takes place in Bryant Part in New York City (located at the corner of forty-second and sixth streets). The which is eight acres in size is changed into an immense arena of fashion garnered in large tents.
Each separate gigantic tent has air conditioning and is separated into several areas. Each individual venue is separated into roughly twelve thousand square feet and has an integrated runway, accompanying guest seating, lighting sound, as well as area for back stage activities.
The venues are used by the designers to present their ongoing designs and work; they arrange and furnish the area in accordance with their own personal taste. The tent walls are outfitted with small booths, where products designated for promotion are being given away or sold. New York fashion week happens two times a year.
Designs for the forthcoming fall season are featured at the fashion week show which occurs the preceding February. Designs for the approaching spring are featured in the September fashion show.
So Your Thinking About Going to Fashion Week?
The typical attendees at fashion week are celebrities, journalists, fashion purchasers, and social types. Because this event is by invitation only, journalists who wish to go must seek accreditation prior to the event. You will very likely see just a few celebrities at each show.
It is clear, you will very likely notice fashion models in addition to numerous well known designers. If you happen to work your way into an invitation to the event, curiously there is not formal type of dress code to follow. The majority of individuals adopt the "anything goes" rule.
Although comfort does play a part, the primary goal of dressing up for fashion week is to establish a unique wardrobe that will give expression to your own individual sense of fashion. If your an individual who has a passion for design fashions, then a trip to fashion week is the event for you.
In addition to receiving the opportunity to witness all the up to date designs prior to then showing up in stores, you will have an incredible amount of fun as well. So even though it might appear to be next to impossible to receive an invitation to fashion week, never say never - if nothing else, at a minimum you can read about the exciting events at the show in the latest fashion trend magazine.

The Big Four Fashion Weeks: New York, London, Milan and Paris

The four major Fashion Weeks are held semi-annually and internationally. Each one of the Fashion Weeks has a unique style, all their own.
In 1943, New York held the first Fashion Week, and has been the quintessential idea of fashion week ever since. Now known as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it does seem to be the most commercialized of the big fashion shows, in that the clothes are created ready-for-market. Its styles and designs are arguably a lot 'safer' than the other three locations.
In 1984, London jumped on the fashion train and recently has been making a splash with its high-end couture. London Fashion Week has not yet reached the commercial level of New York and is less likely to follow fashion trends. Rather, each London fashion house showcases its unique take on fashion-forward concepts, and their collections are still market ready. The heavy hitters in London like Richard Nicholl, Christopher Kane and Giles Deacon are all amazing designers who produce commercially viable collections that would stand out at any of the fashion shows around the world.
Milan's version of the week was established in 1958 and is part of the Big Four internationally. It is owned by a nonprofit association which disciplines, coordinates and promotes the development of Italian Fashion and is responsible for hosting the fashion events and shows of Milan called Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. The original Italian Fashion Week was not held in Milan, instead it was held in Florence at the hands of Giovan Battista Giorgini. He held the first "fashion parade" in the living room of his house "Villa Torrigiani". Then the Italian week later moved to Rome, and then Milan where it is currently held in haute style today.
Paris is known as the fashion capital of the world, and holds the finale position in the fashion show tour. Paris Fashion Week brings each season's chaotic schedule of international fashion weeks to an end. High-end French designers include: Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and Louis Vuitton along with many more stunningly talented designers. Typically, Paris has some of the most extravagant shows, especially with Paris Couture Week.
No matter which of the Big Four is your favorite, each week is sure to dazzle its audience with new haute couture designs year after year. In addition to haute couture trends, innovative fashion designs have also been making a big impact, especially in New York, the only location that allows a fashion school to feature its students' designs, which are often very fresh and inspirational. It is definitely important to keep up with the latest runway styles from all four weeks to stay on top of upcoming trends for the next season.
Gaining experience through fashion courses at an online fashion school is one of the best ways to figure out your future fashion career path.
